The Power of Release: How Letting Go Opened the Door to Success

In life, we all face challenges—whether it’s pursuing new goals or navigating unexpected changes. For many, the word release might simply mean letting go of things that haven’t worked. But for me, release is much more than that. It’s about shedding the pressure that holds us back, learning from our failures, and opening the door to new opportunities. In this post, I want to share how embracing the power of release transformed my journey and continues to shape my approach as a coach.
A Year of Experimentation and Growth
Last year was a whirlwind of experimentation for me. I dove headfirst into my coaching journey—hosting workshop series, building a social media presence, planning my first big retreat, and working with individual clients. I wasn’t entirely sure how I wanted to show up in the coaching space or whom I wanted to serve. The only way to find out was to try a little bit of everything. While I celebrated some wins, I also experienced plenty of failures. What struck me most wasn’t just the outcomes, but the process of navigating them and the lessons that surfaced along the way. Every misstep was an opportunity to learn about myself and the internal barriers that were holding me back.
Facing Deep-Rooted Fears
One of the biggest challenges I confronted was my deep-seated fear of financial insecurity—a fear rooted in my family’s history and personal experiences, including the painful memory of losing our home. Even though I now live in a secure situation, stepping into a new career and supporting my husband’s new business reawakened that old anxiety. When I made a significant financial investment into a coaching retreat that ultimately failed, it forced me to face this fear head-on. I realized that I was carrying an internal pressure, a need to justify my investment with immediate success. This pressure wasn’t coming from anyone else—it was all me.
Transforming Failure Through Release
After taking time to process this realization, I decided to let go of that self-imposed pressure. Once I released the weight of my self-expectation, I was able to face it, let it go and capture the learnings from that failure to reimagine the retreat from a different perspective. The result? A completely new concept emerged—and it sold out within two weeks! This transformation led to my upcoming Pilates & Pinot in Patagonia weekend retreat, a success that wouldn’t have been possible without embracing release.
Lessons Learned and Moving Forward
What did I learn? That release isn’t about giving up—it’s about creating space for something better. By allowing myself to let go of old fears and pressures, I discovered new avenues for growth and success. This journey taught me that when we take the time to process our failures and understand the “why” behind our challenges, we unlock the potential for lasting change. I share this story because I know firsthand how hard personal and professional growth can be. Sometimes, the act of releasing what no longer serves you is the secret sauce to moving forward with clarity and resilience.
